My cat's weird habit..

Has anyone ever seen a cat lie down like this? I never have, and I've owned cats for almost 40 years. Here is HRH The Duke of York's typical carpet lounging posture:

See what I mean? Legs straight out behind him - weird, isn't it? Nevermind how he "sits" to bathe:
