Tatting is kicking my butt...

I don't know WHAT is going on with my tatting lately! The piece I started a couple of days ago turned out to be 10X bigger than it should have been. Grrrrr.

So, I decided to tat a bookmark that I have made probably a half dozen of. My mistake here was tatting while watching William Shatner chew scenery in "The Andersonville Trial". Jack Cassidy was giving as good as he got, as far as scenery chewing went. I finished the bookmark with a sense of pleased accomplishment. Then I spread it out to start blocking. The horror. The horror.

The middle section isn't bad at all, it's the ends, man, the ends! I have NO idea what I did wrong. At least it will still work as a bookmark, although I sure as heck can't give it to anyone now!

I am determined to tat something right today. I have won ribbons for my tatting in the past, darn it, I CAN SO tat!

But I won't be watching Shatner chew scenery while I do it today.

I admire what you've done... I took a short tatting workshop last Fall and it's HARD! If you hadn't told me there were problems, I don't know that I'd have noticed.

Thanks, Kathleen - I refuse to give up! It's just been a long time since I've tatted - practice makes perfect, or at least not lopsided!

Peace,
Liz

Looks like you just added an extra chain and ring at one end. I don't know if you started or ended there, but you could cut it out and refinish that little bit. I like William Shatner - that must have been a very riveting performance. LOL!

Thanks for the analysis & suggestion, Gina! I think I'm going to use it as is to remind me to pay attention when I tat!

Peace,

P.S. Shatner played a Union Army prosecuting attorney - kept waiting for him tho "raise shields"!

Ah, well, there will be other bookmarks, it looks like it will still do it's "job" quite well if given the chance. I had quite the crush on William Shatner when I was little...that's funny the phrase you used "chew scenery" I'd never heard that one before... gave me a chuckle.

Thanks for the encouragement, TC! I will be blocking it this afternoon and plan on using it for myself. I heard that "chew scenery" term years ago about some other actors...makes me laugh, too. And let's face it - it seems tailor made for Shatner!
